The Hungarian Grand Prix saw No.246-ranked Maria Timofeeva, 19, become the fourth player to win a WTA title as a lucky loser (and first since Coco Gauff at Linz 2019) and the ninth to do so in her debut WTA main draw (and first since Olga Danilovic at Moscow River Cup 2018, who had also been a lucky loser).
