Qualifier Ekaterina Makarova upset No.7 seed Kateryna Baindl in the first round of the Transylvania Open to notch her second victory over a Top 100 player and second win in a WTA main draw (both following her defeat of Sorana Cirstea at Strasbourg 2022).
