New mom Sania Mirza is already planning for her on-court comeback - and can't wait to get started.

Six weeks after the birth of son Izhaan, the former Doubles World No.1 is adjusting to her new responsibilities alongside her long-term love of her sport.

"I can’t wait to start playing again," she told the Times of India.

"Tennis is in my blood. It’s just that priorities change when you’re expecting. You want to have a healthy baby, you want to be healthy."

The 32-year-old is taking it slowly as she steps up her training, and expects to be competing again in late 2019.

"I’m a perfectionist, anything I do I want to do it properly," she added. "I would like to come back and compete at the level I competed at. I want to be the best mother [and] best player I can be."
