Chinese legend Li Na predicts that within half a decade she could see one of her compatriots lift a Grand Slam trophy.

"I wish [in] five years we can see another Chinese girl or boy to win a Grand Slam - not only juniors," she said in an exclusive video.

She singled out Wang Xiyu, the 2018 US Open junior champion with a career high ranking of World No.180, as someone who could make the transition to winning titles on the senior tour - and added that she thought having the WTA Finals in Shenzhen would be invaluable for Chinese players and fans alike.

"I think it's very good for the fans - the big tournament in Shenzhen...face to face you see the top players," she added. "It's also good for the young players. Maybe they could be hitting partners, to have the chance to practice with the top players."

Li Na won two Slams during her stellar career, winning the French Open in 2011 and the Australian Open in 2014, which sent her to her highest-ever ranking of World No.2 in February that year. Her achievements were recognised this year with her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, alongside Mary Pierce.
