Mertens defeats Maria; sets first meeting vs. World No.1 Swiatek
Elise Mertens notched a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win over wild card Tatjana Maria in the first round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Tuesday. In the second round, Mertens will have her first career meeting against World No.1 and two-time defending champion Iga Swiatek.
