Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens took just 70 minutes to beat Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez in the Internazionali BNL d'Italia semifinals on Friday. Kudermetova and Mertens have played only two events together since 2022 -- but they have made the finals on both of those occasions, earlier in the month at WTA 1000 Madrid, and again at WTA 1000 Rome.
