JANUARY - Fell in Brisbane qualifying.

2006 - Played first events of career on ITF Circuit.

2007 - Fell in WTA qualifying once.

2008 - Fell in WTA qualifying once; won one singles title and two doubles titles on ITF Circuit.

2009 - First Top 100 season; played first WTA main draw at US Open (l. 2r); played four more WTA main draws in fall (all as qualifier), reaching 3r once (Tokyo [Pan Pacific] - d. No.1 Safina en route) and 2r twice; fell 1r once and in qualifying once; made Top 100 debut on November 9 year-end rankings (rose from No.102 to No.92); won three doubles titles on ITF Circuit.

2010 - QF twice, at Kuala Lumpur and Osaka; reached 2r five times (incl. Wimbledon, US Open); fell 1r eight times (incl. other two majors) and in qualifying nine times; won one WTA doubles title; won two doubles titles on ITF Circuit.

2011 - Reached 2r once; fell 1r seven times (incl. Australian Open, Wimbledon) and in qualifying eight times (incl. other two majors); won one singles title on ITF Circuit.

Currently without a full-time coach; travels with father ... Father is Chin Lai Chang and mother is Yu Mei Jun (sell seafood in markets in Taiwan); two older brothers, Yao Lun and Yao Chung (both play tennis) ... Born and raised in Taiwan, an hour from Taipei; splits training between Taiwan and Delray Beach, Florida (International Tennis Academy) ... Started playing tennis at age 6 when introduced to sport by brothers at local tennis club ... Aggressive baseliner whose favorite shot is backhand; favorite surface is hard ... Idolized Justine Henin and Roger Federer when growing up ... Likes travelling and meeting new people, but misses family when travelling ...
