MATCH POINTS

Schoofs is one half of the reigning doubles champions here; she won the title with Sara Errani last year, beating Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato 7-5, 6-1 in the final.

Goerges is the defending singles champion, having beating Caroline Wozniacki in the 2018 final.

LOOK: Awesome in Auckland - The last singles champions

The German's only singles win against Larsson, however, came over a decade ago, on clay in Rome; their last three encounters have all been on hardcourts and the Swede has won each of them.

Williams and Azarenka have not met for four years. The Belarusian won their two most recent matches, in Madrid and Doha, both in 2015; Venus won the four matches before that, stretching back to 2008.
