MATCH POINTS

Barbora Strycova has won all four previous tour-level meetings with Magdalena Rybarikova, winning in the Fed Cup in 2007, at Wimbledon in 2013 and in Tokyo and Linz last year.

Barbora Strycova hopes to go one better than her previous best showings in Birmingham, having lost the final in both 2014 and 2016. Magdalena Rybarikova has enjoyed better fortune in the final here, prevailing in 2009 against Li Na.

Petra Kvitova triumphed in her only previous encounter with Mihaela Buzarnescu, winning in three sets in the Prague final earlier this year.

Petra Kvitova hopes to continue on track to retaining the title she won last year, while Mihaela Buzarnescu is taking part at Birmingham for the first time.
