Porsche Race to Singapore Update, January 29: We're off!

With the month of January nearly in the books for the WTA's stars, it's time to get moving on the road to the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

The Porsche Race to Singapore is a season-long campaign which builds towards the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, the crown-jewel event of the WTA season featuring the greatest eight singles players and doubles teams.

Each of the 57 tournaments – 53 WTA events plus the four Grand Slams – leading into the WTA Finals represents one lap of the Porsche Race to Singapore.

Wozniacki's return to the top of the WTA rankings has been well-documented, as the Dane returned to the summit for the first time in six years - the longest such gap in the history of the WTA rankings since 1975.

Wozniacki's 2000 points for winning the title in Melbourne also vault her to the top of the Porsche Race to Singapore leaderboard, bringing her total to 2,180 points to lead the pack. The Dane won the title at the WTA Finals last season over Venus Williams.

The four semifinalists from Melbourne round out the top four in the leaderboard, with runner-up Simona Halep sitting in second, Angelique Kerber sitting in third, and Elise Mertens ranking fourth.

Wozniacki's point total also includes a runner-up finish in Auckland to start the year, while Halep (Shenzhen), Kerber (Sydney) and Mertens (Hobart) all have titles on their race rankings.

Rounding out the elite eight to begin the season are Australian Open quarterfinalists Elina Svitolina and Karolina Pliskova, the resurgent Belinda Bencic; and a tie between Hsieh Su-wei and Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

Here's how the Porsche Race to Singapore Leaderboard in singles stands as of January 29:
