On her WTA main-draw debut, 20-year-old Japanese qualifier Aoi Ito upset Sofia Kenin from 5-2 down in the third set in the first round of the Kinoshita Group Japan Open. No.188-ranked Ito extended her winning streak to eight following her title run at the Nanao ITF W50 three weeks previously.
