Rolex and Hawk-Eye at the 2017 WTA Finals
Hawk-Eye has been an integral part of the WTA tour since its debut in Miami in 2006, and that’s no different at the most prestigious event on tour: the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
Using high-speed ball-tracking cameras on court that deliver instant video replays, officials are able to determine close line calls and player challenges. Players have three incorrect challenges per set and an additional one if the set enters a tie-break. Not only has Hawk-Eye lifted the game for players, it has also become an intrinsic part of the fan experience.
The Hawk-Eye electronic line calling system is presented by Rolex, the Official Timekeeper of the WTA Finals. Since becoming the Official Timekeeper of The Championships, Wimbledon in 1978, Rolex has cultivated enduring partnerships with top tennis tournaments including the Australian Open, Shanghai Rolex Masters, as well as marquee players such as Roger Federer, Caroline Wozniacki, Garbiñe Muguruza and retired tennis star Li Na.
The 2017 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global features the world's Top 8 singles players and Top 8 doubles teams competing for a record US$7 million in prize money. It will be held at the Singapore Sports Hub from October 22nd to October 29th.
