NEW YORK, NY, USA -- One day after claiming the mixed doubles at the 2017 US Open, Martina Hingis clinched her 13th women's doubles Grand Slam championship -- and brought a brand new partner into the circle of major winners.

Chan Yung-Jan and Hingis disposed of the Czech team of Lucie Hradecka and Katerina Siniakova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday.

The Taiwanese/Swiss pairing claimed their seventh title of the year, and their first Grand Slam as partners.

"I think we had definitely our chances [before]. Semifinals at the French, we played really well, but they were just better on that given day, Lucie [Safarova] and Bethanie [Mattek-Sands]," Hingis said. "Coming into this tournament, winning Cincinnati, we showed that we can play on clay, and we can play on grass, and I think already making the finals, we felt very comfortable with how we played in the previous two, three matches.

"I think we played, already had a good warmup, and everything kind of fell into place. I think it was more, for me especially, was a disappointing Wimbledon. I think we could've, should've done better. We were pumped up to go all the way here."

It was also Chan's first Grand Slam title ever, after twice being a women's doubles runner-up, as well as a one-time mixed doubles finalist.

By contrast, this was Hingis' 25th Grand Slam title, when you combine the Hall of Famer's exploits amongst singles, doubles, and mixed.

"[To win] my first title, it's amazing -- especially I have Martina on my side. I have been to the final several times, and it's the first time really to win a Grand Slam," Chan said. "It's very, very special for me. Today was a great match. We started really strong and really aggressive."

It was a powerful performance by the No.2-seeded team, who never faced a break point in the match. Chan and Hingis got the pivotal break at 2-1 in the first set and did not look back from there. The duo struck 22 winners in the match, to just two unforced errors.

Added Chan: "It's been a very amazing journey to make it all the way here, and since the first day we agreed to play together, next day I said, 'Oh, Martina said yes to me.' That means I'm going to play beside my own idol, and we are going to fight together. That's a huge step for my whole career. To win this title together, it's really amazing."
