August had a lot to offer in terms of on-court fashion, even though the US Open is just around the corner and tennis apparel companies are busy releasing their New York looks.

Marija Zivlak of Women’s Tennis Blog gives us an overview of her favorite WTA gear at the tournaments leading up to the final Grand Slam of the season.

Garbiñe Muguruza recorded victories over World No.1 Karolina Pliskova and World No.2 Simona Halep one after the other to lift the champion’s trophy at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, all the while looking stylish in the legend blue Adidas Fall Stella McCartney Tank paired with the Adidas Fall Stella McCartney Skirt. The slim-fitted racerback tank features two contrast stripes at the front that visually narrow the waist, while the skirt echoes the British designer’s signature feminine tailoring with breathable engineered details throughout.

The Adidas Stella Barricade 2017 are the shoes that perfectly matched Muguruza’s dark separates and made her feet stable and secure during her successful month of August in which she also reached the Toronto quarterfinals and Stanford semifinals.

Continuing her comeback from a lengthy foot injury layoff, Sloane Stephens made back-to-back Premier 5 semifinals in August and soared from No.151 to No.84 in the WTA rankings, while staying true to her vibrant Under Armour style. The A-line skirt, dual criss-crossed spaghetti straps at the back and an ultra-breathable mesh inset below the chest make the American’s blue UA Tennis Strappy Back Dress extra flattering and functional, while its quick-drying material and anti-odor technology offer top comfort.

Many players have worn the action red Nike Fall Slam Dress in recent weeks, but the style fits Elina Svitolina the best and the Ukrainian gave it extra exposure at the Rogers Cup in Toronto, where she became the first WTA player in history to win three WTA Premier 5 tournaments in a single season. Maybe because of the way the red headband looks on Svitolina, the World No.4 gives an appealing retro feel to the ultra-modern engineered-knit design. The blue jay Nike Baseline Power 5" Shorts provide extra coverage and tennis ball storage space in the disguised ball pockets at the sides.

Monica Puig launched this beautiful ‘80s-inspired Ellesse dress from the company’s Fall 2017 collection, which is unfortunately not available worldwide, only in Japan. Just like all contemporary tennis dress, it is made of fast-drying polyester. When it comes to appearance, wide navy stripes are wonderfully balanced by soft lavender and blue tones complementing a traditional V-neck silhouette.

Julia Goerges and CoCo Vandeweghe debuted Asics’ Fall Athlete Dress this month, giving it a lot of exposure, as the German made the final of the Citi Open and the American finished runner-up at the Bank of the West Classic.

The sporty design in arctic aqua is enhanced by the T-back color-block that matches the rounded contrast panel at center chest. The breathable fabric is further boosted by mesh insets at the back for added ventilation.
