The 2019 clay season is in full swing, but the French Open is still distant, so we had a traditional April’s lull in the world of tennis fashion.

Despite only a handful of new outfits being introduced after the Sunshine Swing, the WTA stars looked stylish in the weeks behind us and Marija Zivlak of Women’s Tennis Blog will show us the looks that dominated the clay courts in Charleston, Stuttgart and Istanbul.

The only major brand that introduced new clothes this month was adidas with its Escouade collection, whose vibrant red, light grey and dark purple high-performance wear Andrea Petkovic rocked at the Volvo Car Open and the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, while a light blue, black and white colorway will be debuted at Roland Garros.

The adidas Summer Escouade Tank is all about ventilation and freedom of movement. Climacool technology and generous use of mesh are dedicated to venting out the heat, while dropped armholes and stretchy fabric support a natural range of motion.

Originally, this lightweight tank comes with a separate pop-color sports bra that adds dimension to the outfit by peeking through the mesh panels, but Petkovic gave her personal touch by opting for a neutral-toned bra and tying the tank into a knot on the back.

Petkovic’s light granite adidas Summer Escouade Skirt features an exposed elastic waistband and pleats at side with inner shock red squares.

When the weather was cold, the German grabbed her adidas Escouade Long-Sleeve Top, which stands out with its slits on the shoulders.

Petra Kvitova adopted a less-is-more attitude with Nike’s simple gray outfit that accompanied her en route to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix winner’s trophy.

The Czech champion wore a traditional sporty Nike Summer Court Tank and Nike Summer Flouncy Skirt, spicing up the look with graphic black-and-white Nike Air Zoom Vapor X footwear.

Former World No.2 Vera Zvonareva entered the main draw of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix as a lucky loser and even though the Russian was beaten by fellow mom Victoria Azarenka in the first round, it was enough for her new clothing partnership with Bidi Badu to attract attention of tennis fashion fans.

The 34-year-old rocked a bold pink abstract print outfit consisting of the Lyn Tech Tank and Mora Tech Skort.

Navy, red and white -- you don’t need more that these three colors to create a plethora of outstanding tennis outfits and Fila is proving that time and time again. Hungary’s Timea Babos looked stunning at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup in her limited-edition P.L. Rolando collection and she went all the way to the doubles title partnered with Kristina Mladenovic, who is dressed in the before-mentioned adidas Escouade collection.

Today’s WTA fashion doesn’t shy away from crystals, lace, extravagant prints, innovative cutouts, and shiny fabrics, but back in 1973, Fila’s original creative director, Pierluigi Rolando, was the first to introduce color to the courts, while his use of print, pattern, and fabrication paved the way for Fila to become an iconic sportstyle brand.

Navy, red and white is now considered a traditional palette, but Fila’s designers always make it look contemporary. In Babos’ Istanbul outfit, they incorporated geometric panels of contrasting colors over a diagonal colorblocked print.

Was your favorite April’s style adidas’ Escouade collection, Kvitova’s no-frills grey look,  Zvonareva’s busy pinks or Babos’ celebration of Fila’s heritage?
