- Began playing tennis at age 13 in her native Czechoslovakia and turned pro in 1969… Won first of two singles titles at Virginia Slims of Jacksonville in 1972, defeating top seed Billie Jean King in F… Achieved best Grand Slam result by reaching quarterfinals at Roland Garros in 1974 (l. Morozova)… Ranked as high as No.13 in unofficial rankings… Married Hungarian textile engineer András Pintér in 1974, having met him while competing in Cairo… Son, Karim born in 1976… Returned to professional tennis as a mother and age 35 won Japan Open in Tokyo in 1981, finishing the year at a career-high WTA rank of No.47… In the mid-80s, began playing on ITF Masters Tour and went on to win 11 world singles championships and 24 European titles… Played last competitive events in 2021, after 62 years on court… Passed away in Budapest on 21 October, 2023.
