Home hope Burel snaps Svitolina's Strasbourg winning streak
France's Clara Burel upset No.7 seed and defending champion Elina Svitolina 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-1 in the second round of the Internationaux de Strasbourg on Wednesday. With her second career Top 20 win, Burel avenged her loss to Svitolina in last year's semifinals. Svitolina, the 2020 and 2023 champion, had won her last nine matches in Strasbourg.
