CINCINNATI, OH, USA - Serena Williams may have enjoyed a straight-sets win over Daria Gavrilova in the first round of the Western and Southern Open - but don't make the mistake of assuming it was straightforward.

"It's never easy, no matter what the scoreline says," the former World No.1 told reporters after her 6-1, 6-2 victory. "I definitely felt relaxed after the first break, but it's just the very beginning of the match - you've got to keep going."

The 23-time Grand Slam champion also discussed her perfectionist tendencies - and how she is trying to go easier on herself.

"I like to do things that are of a standard that are maybe unrealistic - and that includes being a mom," she said.
