The US Open 2018 women’s singles final will take place on Saturday, September 8, beginning at 4pm ET.

It will represent a climax to nearly a fortnight of competition, in which 128 hopefuls have battled for the right to lift the trophy, which Sloane Stephens achieved last year by defeating countrywoman Madison Keys, 6-3, 6-0.

This year, Serena Williams will be aiming for her 24th Grand Slam title - but needs to beat Naomi Osaka, who hopes to lift her first.

The women’s doubles final will be the final match of the draw from the women's side, with that tied down for Sunday, September 9 with a 1pm start.

The prize money for the 2018 edition of the US Open is drawn from a pot of $53m, with singles champions receiving $3.8m.

This year, players earn $54,000 for playing in the main draw, $93,000 for reaching the second round and $156,000 for advancing to the Round of 32.

They receive $266,000 for reaching the fourth round, $475,000 for the quarterfinals and $925,000 for the semifinals. Reaching the final is worth $1,850,000, an increase of $25,000 over last year.

The doubles champions will earn $700,000 - the highest prize money in US Open history.

The overall pot has increased annually by roughly $4 million over the last few years, with the 2017 US Open prize money totalling $50.4m.

Stephens, the 2017 singles winner, received $3.7m for victory at the New York-based event, while runner-up Keys took home $1.825m.
