WTA Rankings 2018: Sasnovich soars, Serena continues to climb

Aliaksandra Sasnovich's run to the semifinals in the Moscow River Cup has boosted her up the WTA Rankings - she now sits at World No.35, a new career high.

Seeded fifth in Moscow, the 24-year-old didn't drop a set before her last-four clash with eventual champion Olga Danilovic, who emerged victorious 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.

Serena Williams continues her climb back up the rankings as she returns from maternity leave - she is now World No.26.

Here are some of the week's other most notable rankings movers:

Wang Qiang (+25, No.78 to No.53): The new Jiangxi Open champion had an impressive week in Nanchang, dropping only one set in the entire campaign - to Sabina Sharipova in the Round of 16.

Magda Linette (+18, No.80 to No.62): The Pole enjoyed a good week in Nanchang, seeded third and losing in the semifinal to eventual champion Wang Qiang. The 26-year-old is now closing in on her career high ranking of No.55, achieved earlier this year.

Tamara Zidansek (+16, No.90 to No.74): The 20-year-old had her campaign in Moscow brought to a premature end when she retired from her semifinal against Anastasia Potapova - but she has still reached a new career best ranking, following wins over Antonia Lottner, Daria Kasatkina, and Laura Siegemund.

Zheng Saisai (+27, No.112 to No.85): Seeded sixth in Nanchang, Zheng was forced to retire from her final against Wang while 7-5, 4-0 down. Before that match, her only dropped set was against Zhu Lin in the semifinal - but the 24-year-old emerged on top, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.

Olga Danilovic (+75, No.187 to No.112): The 17-year-old Moscow champion is knocking on the door of the Top 100 after beating fellow teenager Anastasia Potapova 7-5, 6-7(1), 6-4 to become the first lucky loser to win a WTA title.
