The dream of earning tour ranking points and winning major prizes was once reserved only for the pros. Now, tennis fans can experience the thrill of competition on the WTA Tour… without ever picking up a racquet.

WTA Fantasy Tennis gives you the opportunity to test your knowledge against friends, fellow fans and international tennis experts—while earning fantasy ranking points that could land you an exclusive VIP trip to a WTA tournament event.

The fantasy game for the 2018 season is called the Porsche Race to Singapore Challenge. It’s free to enter and it consists of two challenges, which run concurrently:

  • The Season Challenge, where you select the eight players you believe will qualify for the 2018 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
  • The Tournament Challenge, where you pick six players (four starters and two back-ups) at 21 select Premier level WTA and Grand Slam events throughout the season.

In both challenges, you earn fantasy points equal to the WTA ranking points of your selected players. The better they do on court, the higher up the leaderboard you will climb.

HOW TO PLAY: QUICK SUMMARY

  1. Head to www.wtatennis.com/fantasy from your desktop or mobile device and sign up for free. Witty usernames optional.
  2. Select the eight players you think will make the WTA Finals in the Season Challenge. Your selected players start earning points when you ‘lock’ them in—the earlier you do it, the more points you will earn.
  3. Pick four starters and two alternates for the upcoming event in the Tournament Challenge. You can make your picks up to two weeks before each event and update them at any point before it starts—even after the draw.
  4. Keep your picks updated, set up an optional league with your friends, then admire your ascent to fantasy tennis glory.

THE SEASON CHALLENGE

The object of the Season Challenge is to accurately pick the eight players who will make the 2018 WTA Finals.

Here’s the tricky part: your chosen players will only start earning points when you ‘lock’ them in.

You can lock any player at any time—the sooner you do, the sooner you start racking up points equivalent to that player’s WTA ranking points. Once they have qualified for the 2018 WTA Finals, they will no longer be available for selection.

THE TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE

The biggest portion of your points tally in the Porsche Race to Singapore Challenge will likely come from the Tournament Challenge.

In the Tournament Challenge, fantasy players pick four starters and two alternates at 21 events in 2018.

Players can be selected two weeks before the start of any given tournament and changes can be made up until 15 minutes before the opening match.

Once the draw is complete, the player field will be updated to account for withdrawals and wild cards. Come back after each draw announcement to ensure your players are still poised for success. But if you forget, any starter (up to two) who has withdrawn will be replaced by your alternates.

PRIZES

The Tournament Challenge is divided into three swings, each of which will offer a prize.
