Success at a Grand Slam and maiden WTA title got four worthy players on the ballot, but only one can be named the July WTA Breakthrough of the Month.

From first-time Grand Slam semifinalist Barbora Strycova, who upset four seeded players en route to the final four at Wimbledon, to her compatriot Karolina Muchova, who upset Karolina Pliskova in a thrilling fourth-round clash, it was a tournament to remember for the Czechs.

Moving back to the European clay after Wimbledon, a pair of rising stars won their first WTA titles, as big-hitting Kazakh Elena Rybakina rolled to the title at the BRD Bucharest Open without losing a set, while Fiona Ferro staved off elimation in the second round before ultimately beating compatriot Alizé Cornet to win the Ladies' Open Lausanne.
