MATCH POINTS
This is the first meeting between three-time Miami Open champion Venus Williams and qualifier Dalila Jakupovic. Williams won the title in 1998, 1999, and 2001, and she also made the final in 2010, where she lost to Kim Clijsters.

This is also the first meeting between World No.2 Petra Kvitova and Maria Sakkari. Kvitova's best showing at Miami is a quarterfinal result in 2014, where she lost to Maria Sharapova.
Samantha Stosur has won both of her previous matches against Madison Keys in straight sets. Both of those meetings came on hard court in 2013. Stosur, a two-time Miami Open quarterfinalist in 2009 and 2010, won her first-round match over Evgeniya Rodina on Wednesday.
Caroline Garcia won her only prior encounter with Victoria Azarenka, a 6-4, 7-5 victory at Cincinnati last year. Garcia has never advanced past the third round in Miami.
Azarenka is a three-time Miami Open champion, claiming trophies in 2009, 2011, and 2016. Her 2016 title, when she completed the Indian Wells/Miami "Sunshine Double," is her most recent singles title. Azarenka extended her head-to-head record against Dominika Cibulkova to 8-3 following her first-round win over the Slovak on Wednesday.

No.7 seed Kiki Bertens takes on 17-year-old lefty Wang Xiyu on Thursday, after Wang defeated 2016 Olympic champion Monica Puig in the first round on Wednesday. Wang won the US Open juniors singles title last year.
Bianca Andreescu shot from World No.60 to World No.24 in the WTA rankings after winning her first WTA singles title at Indian Wells on Sunday. For the second event in a row, her first-round opponent will be Irina-Camelia Begu -- Andreescu beat Begu in three sets en route to her 2019 BNP Paribas Open title, but Begu won their only other encounter, in Fed Cup last year.
