Poland's Weronika Falkowska, 21, had lost to Kateryna Bondarenko in the final round of qualifying at the BNP Paribas Poland Open - but after making the main draw as a lucky loser, avenged the result for the loss of just two games. Falkowska had compiled a 29-6 record on the ITF World Tennis Tour in 2021, including four titles, and was making her WTA debut.
