Victoria Azarenka and Petra Kvitova first played each other in 2008, and Azarenka took the ninth edition of their rivalry in straight sets in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open. The two-time Indian Wells champion reduced her overall head-to-head deficit against Kvitova to 4-5, but extended her outdoor hard court lead to 3-0.
