Qualifier Maya Joint notched her first career WTA main-draw win on clay after coming from 2-0 down in the third set against Spanish wild card Carlota Martinez Cirez in the Mutua Madrid Open first round. Martinez Cirez, 24, was making her WTA main-draw debut.
