BASTAD, Sweden - Chanelle Scheepers booked her place in the final of the Collector Swedish Open with a straight set win over Jana Cepelova on Saturday.

The Plot
Despite honing her game on the hardcourts of South Africa, many of Scheepers' best results have come on clay. She has reached semifinals on the surface three times and last week in Bad Gastein snapped a poor run of form by reaching the quarterfinals, where she lost in three sets to Sara Errani.

The Turning Point
In the previous round, Cepelova overcame a sluggish start to take the opening set and it looked like history would be repeating itself when she pegged back Scheepers from 5-2 down. However, Scheepers responded well to this disappointment, pouncing on a couple of short second serves to break once more before serving out to love.

Things went from bad to worse for Cepelova at the start of the second, a loose service game handing Scheepers an early break. With a place in her second WTA final now beckoning, the South African was not about to repeat her first set mistake, breaking once more to complete a 7-5, 6-2 win.

By The Numbers
Scheepers' last WTA final came at the end of 2011 in Guangzhou where she ended up walking away with the title. Since then she has reached three semifinals, at Bogotá earlier this year and at Marrakech and Budapest in 2013.

"Today was a tough match. We started out going back and forth, and as we'd never played each other I didn't really know her game," Scheepers said. "We were trying to figure each other out, but I was happy with the way I ended the first set and the second set.

"The final will be tough. I just want to go out there and play my game, keep playing the way I have all tournament and we'll see what happens."

What's Next
Facing Scheepers for the title will be Mona Barthel, who twice came from a break down in the third set to defeat Sílvia Soler-Espinosa, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
