October 2017 WTA Player Of The Month Finalists

Caroline Wozniacki: The former WTA World No.1 ended her season on the highest note, claiming her biggest career title at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

Wozniacki stormed through her first two matches in the Red Group against Elina Svitolina and Simona Halep - as only a red-hot Caroline Garcia stopped her - before ending Karolina Pliskova's chance to finish the year at the top of the rankings in the semifinals, and defeating Venus Williams to win the title.

The Dane ends the season as World No.3, her highest year-end ranking since the 2012 season. Her 60-21 record is the most wins on tour this year.

Venus Williams: Williams finished as runner-up at the WTA Finals after qualifying in the elite eight for the first time this decade. Twice a Grand Slam runner-up in 2017, she last qualified for the WTA Finals in 2009, finishing runner-up after winning the title in 2008.

The American lost her first match in Singapore to Pliskova, but rebounded in a big way to finish second in the White Group: she ousted Jelena Ostapenko in a three-hour epic in her second match, before defeating Garbiñe Muguruza in a winner-take-all third match, a rematch of the Wimbledon final.

Finishing the season at World No.5, the 37-year-old finishes inside the Top 10 for the 13th time in her career, while finishing in the Top 5 for the seventh time overall.

She also topped the WTA money list this season, earning $5,468,741. As a result, the seven-time Grand Slam champion moves to second on the career-prize money earnings list with $39,900,489, trailing only her sister Serena ($84,463,131).

Simona Halep: Halep became the 25th player to achieve the No.1 ranking on October 9, 2017 following her 27th career WTA final at the China Open in Beijing.

A semifinal victory over Ostapenko in Beijing ensured Halep's historic rise to the top spot, and she will hold the No.1 ranking on November 9, the official year-end rank date for the 2017 season.

Halep entered the Top 10 for the first time on January 27, 2014, and currently holds the longest active streak of consecutive weeks inside the Top 10.
