Clijsters receives Hall of Fame ring at US Open
NEW YORK, NY, USA - In a special ceremony on Arthur Ashe Stadium, three-time US Open champion and Class of 2017 International Tennis Hall of Fame inductee Kim Clijsters will receive her official Hall of Fame Ring following the first women's semifinal between Venus Williams and Sloane Stephens.
Clijsters was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame this summer in celebration of her illustrious career that earned her six Grand Slam titles - four in singles, two in doubles - the WTA No.1 ranking, which she held for 20 weeks in 2003 and again in 2011 after giving birth to her first child, and 52 total WTA titles in singles and doubles.
The Hall of Fame rings are one-of-a-kind pieces that are presented to Hall of Famers at tennis events around the world to commemorate their recognition as being among the sport’s greatest champions. The rings are generally presented at locations of personal significance to the Hall of Famers and their fans. Clijsters claimed three singles titles at the event – 2005, 2009, and 2010.
