MATCH POINTS
Anastasija Sevastova has made the final in each of the three editions of the Mallorca Open thus far, though she lost in the final to Tatjana Maria in 2018. She also made the doubles final in 2017.
She beat Varvara Lepchenko, 6-7(2), 6-1, 6-3, in the round of 16 as she won the 2017 title.
The Latvian has a 2-1 career head-to-head record with the American, also winning in the first round of the 2018 Australian Open, also over three sets.
Caroline Garcia won the inaugural Mallorca Open in 2016.
First up for the Frenchwoman is Victoria Azarenka. She has a 2-0 career head-to-head record against the Belarusian, winning in straight sets in Miami earlier in 2019.
Maria Sharapova has never faced Viktoria Kuzmova previously.
Angelique Kerber has strong pedigree on grass. She won the Wimbledon title in 2018 and was runner-up at the All England Club in 2016.
After her run to the semifinals of the French Open, Amanda Anisimova will play her first Tour-level singles match on grass against qualifier Tereza Martincova.
Alison Riske goes into her match with wildcard Paula Badosa having won her second WTA Tour title last week, getting her grass court season off to a perfect start with victory at s’Hertogenbosch.
