In her new autobiography Unbreakable, released this week, retired former World No.4 Jelena Dokic wrote about verbal and physical abuse by her father during her tennis career.

The WTA believes Jelena has shown great courage in deciding to tell her story. Family violence has devastating consequences. Tragically, it continues to occur across all demographics of society, including sports.

A WTA spokesperson said: "The WTA is steadfast in its commitment to provide a respectful, healthy and safe environment for all WTA players and worked closely with Jelena throughout her career on the WTA Tour. We’re glad that she has finally been able to break her silence."
