Serena is always a threat, says defending Wimbledon champion Muguruza
Garbiñe Muguruza is all set to defend her Wimbledon title - but she knows that she'll be under huge pressure from seven-time SW19 champion Serena Williams, wherever she may be in the draw.
"I know she’s Serena Williams and she can play incredible and you can never underestimate a champion like her, even though she didn’t play as much," the Spaniard told Press Association Sport. "She’s always a danger in whatever draw, whatever tournament."
Williams is currently on her way back from maternity leave after giving birth to a daughter last September, and is recovering from a pectoral muscle injury that forced her to withdraw from the French Open prior to a much anticipated clash with old rival Sharapova.

The 24-year-old beat Serena's big sister Venus in last year's Wimbledon final, 7-5, 6-0. That came two years after her first appearance in a Wimbledon final - when Serena beat her in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
"It was just such a great feeling [to win Wimbledon] because three years ago I lost in the Wimbledon final and it was such a tough moment, to never know if you’re going to be there again," added Muguruza. "So when I was last year in that situation again I didn’t want to let it go and it was just a little bit of revenge."
The World No.3 thinks she has learnt a lot from her effort to defend the French Open title after her triumph there in 2016; she crashed out in the fourth round to Kristina Mladenovic the year after.
"I'm completely different now. Before I was thinking a lot about the tournament and now I don’t even think about it. I know it will naturally come, there’s no reason to worry today.
"I learned to take a little bit more distance. I have a tournament almost every single week. I struggled a little bit because it was new for me, I never felt that nervous before a tournament where you feel you have a lot of expectation, what’s going to happen, and all these things, and now I’m like, 'Okay, whatever, this is not important at all.' I’m going to go out there and just play the best I can and that’s it. It’s so much more simple."
