Porsche Race to Singapore Update, June 18: Barty boosted by Nottingham title

Ashleigh Barty has been looking forward to the grass season for many months - and her anticipation was rewarded last week with a title at the Nature Valley Open and a boost into the Top 20 of the Porsche Race to Singapore.

The Australian, who is also at a career high of No.16 in the WTA Rankings, picked up her second career trophy after Kuala Lumpur in 2017 with a tightly contested defeat of Johanna Konta - Barty's second final of the year following Sydney in January - and moves up five places to land at No.20 in the Race.

With only two International tournaments played last week, there is no movement in the Top 8 of the Race. although Nottingham semifinalist Naomi Osaka inches up one place to No.11 thanks to her maiden appearance in the last four of a grass tournament.

Meanwhile, Konta may have come out on the losing end of a second straight final in Nottingham, but the Briton did score her best result and first final of the year so far - and soars 15 spots to No.27.

There are significant moves, too, for those who excelled in 's-Hertogenbosch. Semifinalist Viktoria Kuzmova climbs 12 rungs to No.39, and just behind her are runner-up Kirsten Flipkens, up 24 places to No.40, and champion Aleksandra Krunic, whose maiden title sees her zoom 44 spots to end up at No.41.

Last week's remaining two semifinalists have also started to get their year on track now that grass is underfoot again: Donna Vekic, who made the last four in Nottingham, is boosted 14 places to No.45, while CoCo Vandeweghe's run in 's-Hertogenbosch finds the American ascend 15 spots to No.59.
