Highlights: Serena dons catsuit to slink past Pliskova
Serena Williams returned to Roland Garros in her own inimitable style as she beat Kristyna Pliskova 7-6(4), 6-4 in the first round of the 2018 French Open.
The three-time champion donned a black catsuit for her return to the Paris clay, describing it afterwards as "Wakanda-inspired".
"I’m always living in a fantasy world,” she told reporters after the match. “I always wanted to be a superhero and it’s kind of my way of being a superhero.”
She also said that the outfit was her way of working to inspire other women - particularly new moms.
“It feels like this suit represents all the women that have been through a lot mentally, physically, with their body to come back and have confidence and to believe in themselves,” she said.
“I definitely feel like it is an opportunity for me to inspire a whole different group of amazing women and kids.”
Catsuit anyone? For all the moms out there who had a tough recovery from pregnancy—here you go. If I can do it, so can you. Love you all!! pic.twitter.com/xXb3BKDGNF

The 23-time Grand Slam champion will next face seventeenth seed Ashleigh Barty - but before that she has a doubles match with sister Venus. The American pair take on No.14 seeds Shuko Aoyama and Miyu Kato.
