Reigning Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka has announced a split from coach Jermaine Jenkins ahead of the Asian swing.

The former World No. 1 announced the coaching change on Twitter on Thursday.

"I'm super grateful for the time we spent together and the things I learned on and off court," she wrote, "but I feel like now is a[n] appropriate time for a change."

Prior to working with Osaka, Jenkins was a hitting partner for Venus Williams, and also worked with USTA Player Development.

Osaka announced their partnership in February, after splitting with 2018 WTA Coach of the Year Sascha Baijin after winning the Australian Open.

After losing in the fourth round of the US Open to Belinda Bencic, Osaka is set to return to competition next week at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Osaka next week, and then at the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open, where she's taken a wildcard.
