MATCH POINTS

Catherine McNally will play her first WTA Tour last-16 match since going down in straight sets to Viktorija Golubic in Indian Wells.

Christina McHale’s previous experience at this stage came in Acapulco at the end of February.

The two Americans have never played each other.

Rebecca Peterson claimed her first Top 10 win when she beat WTA World No.8 and No.1 seed Sloane Stephens in the opening round. Her previous best win came against WTA World No.28s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at the 2018 US Open and Yulia Putintseva at the French Open.

Camila Giorgi has lost her last seven matches against Top 70 players. Peterson is WTA World No.70.

Zarina Diyas and Lesia Tsurenko have a 2-2 career head-to-head record. While Diyas took the first two matches, Tsurenko has since won a qualifier in Dubai in 2018 then a first-round match at Eastbourne a matter of weeks ago.

Hsieh Su-wei is seeking to reach her first WTA Tour quarterfinal since Rabat in May. She has reached the last eight four times previously this year.

Varvara Gracheva is playing in only her second WTA Tour event. Her 6-2, 7-5, 2-6 win over WTA No.92 Anna Blinkova was her first at this level – and her best career victory.
