PALERMO, Italy - Switzerland's Jil Teichmann's breakout 2019 season continued on Sunday at the Palermo Ladies' Open.

The No.8 seed captured her second title of the year by scoring her first Top 10 victory, as she upset World No.5 and top seed Kiki Bertens in the final, 7-6(3), 6-2.

Ranked outside the world's Top 140 at the start of the season, Teichmann will crack the Top 60 as a result, and recorded her first career Top 10 victory.

The 22-year-old led by a break three times in the opening set and had three set points on Bertens' serve in the 10th game, but ultimately needed to wrap it up in a tiebreak, as she took advantage of an erratic performance from the Dutch No.1 off the ground.

Bertens hit 43 unforced errors in the match and won just 55 percent of the points behind her first serve, and was broken twice more in the second set.

Teichmann finished with 17 winners against 23 unforced errors, and she did not lose a set en route to winning the title in Sicily.

With her second title, the left-hander joins Bertens, Ashleigh Barty, Karolina Pliskova, Petra Kvitova, Dayana Yastremska and Sofia Kenin in having won more than one singles title so far in 2019.
