MATCH POINTS

Anastasija Sevastova has won her only prior meeting with Dalila Jakupovic, having squeaked out a win at Bucharest last year in a final-set tiebreak.

Caroline Garcia has faced her fellow Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet three times, with Garcia triumphing each time in straight sets. Their last meeting was in the Strasbourg semifinals earlier this year, which was the first WTA semifinal of Paquet's career.

Patricia Maria Tig will face Anhelina Kalinina for the first time. Tig is coming off a magical run to the final in Bucharest, which was her first WTA main-draw appearance since 2017. Kalinina, for her part, ousted No.3 seed Katerina Siniakova in the first round this week, to set up her meeting with Tig.

The inaugural Baltic Open taking place this week is the first WTA event ever to be held in Latvia. Jelena Ostapenko, the first Latvian to win a Grand Slam title (2017 Roland Garros) was eliminated in the first round of singles, but she will start her campaign to win the doubles title with her partner Galina Voskoboeva on Wednesday, as the No.1 seeds.
