The first week of the grass court season proved to be a disjointed one due to inclement weather conditions in both Nottingham and s-Hertogenbosch, but that did not stop it being a successful one for Caroline Garcia and Alison Riske, who picked up the titles at these venues respectively.

Both overcame the stop-start conditions to win crowns and ranking points that have propelled them back up the WTA Ranking.

Garcia, the top seed for the week, displayed her mental fortitude to win the Nature Valley Open with a 2-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(4) success over No.2 seed Donna Vekic.

As such, she has jumped five spots up the ladder to WTA World No.23.

Riske, meanwhile, enjoyed an even more dramatic success over Kiki Bertens to lift the title at the Libéma Open as she fought back from losing the first set to a bagel, saved five match points in the second and then won the decider for a 0-6, 7-6(3), 7-5 win.

The American has leapt up 12 places in the Ranking as a consequence, moving back into the Top 50 at WTA World No.49.

Here are the other notable movers in the WTA Ranking this week:

Jennifer Brady (+14, No.80 to No.66): The American enjoyed an impressive run in Birmingham before eventually being stopped over three sets by Garcia. Defeated No.7 seed Zhang Shuai and No.4 seed Maria Sakkari in straight sets.

Magda Linette (+21, No.96 to No.75): Won an ITF event in Manchester on grass as the top seed, dropping only a single set all week. Defeated Zarina Diyas in the final, 7-6(1), 2-6, 6-3.

Madison Brengle (+11, No.98 to No.87): Reached the semifinals in Manchester, where she was ultimately defeated by Diyas. Her most notable victory came over Timea Babos in three sets.

Zarina Diyas (+12, No.101 to No.89): Diyas’ run to the final in Manchester has propelled her back into the Top 100. Last time she was higher was back in September.

Natalia Vikhlyantseva (+12, No.119 to No.107): Enjoyed a fine push to the quarterfinals of s-Hertogenbosch, where she was defeated by No.1 seed Kiki Bertens.

Elena Rybakina (+21, No.134 to No.113): Another victim of Bertens, the Kazak reached the semifinals in the Netherlands, where she had to qualify to make the main draw.

Han Na-Lae (+22, No.171 to No.149): In the Top 150 for the first time in her career, the 26-year-old won an ITF event in Daegu without dropping a set.

Elena-Gabriela Ruse (+35, No.211 to No.176): The 21-year-old qualified for Nottingham before making a run to the quarterfinals, where she pinched the first set from eventual champion Caroline Garcia before ultimately going down in three.
