MATCH POINTS

Petra Martic has won all three of her previous WTA matches against Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets. But they all took place on hard courts, this is their first meeting on clay.

The pair have played once this season with Martic triumphing 6-4, 7-5 in the second round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

A former junior World No.1, Vondrousova is still only 19 but has already battled back from a long injury lay-off, having been on the sidelines for eight months due to a elbow injury in 2016.

The Czech has been in good form so far this season, reaching the final in Budapest and quarterfinal at the Miami Open.

Martic now has five non-consecutive finishes inside the year-end Top 100 WTA Rankings. The 28-year-old was No.32 at the end of 2018.

The Croatian has proven that her game translates well to the big stages, having advanced to the Round of 16 at the Grand Slams on four occasions, including at 2018 Australian Open.
