INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA - Daria Gavrilova is no longer winless in 2019.
The 25-year-old Aussie outlasted Ukrainian teenager Dayana Yastremska in three sets and nearly two-and-a-half hours on Wednesday at the BNP Paribas Open to score her first victory in seven matches played this season, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
The former World No.20 had won just one set - against Danielle Collins in Fed Cup as Australian dueled the United States last month - prior to arriving in the California desert, but earned a hard-fought victory over the 18-year-old who is now ranked nearly 20 spots above her at World No.37.

Gavrilova had chances to close out the Hua Hin champion in straight sets, as she won three games in a row from 4-2 down in the second set to serve for the match, but Yastremska broke to 15 and won three straight games to force a final set in the pair's first career meeting.
The win not only is Gavrilova's first of the season, but snaps an eight-match losing streak dating back to the Kremlin Cup in Moscow last October.
The Aussie will have her chance at revenge up next, as she will face a player who handed her one of her six losses this season in No.29 seed Mihaela Buzarnescu.
The pair faced off last week in Acapulco at the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL presentado por HSBC, with the Romanian winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
In another rematch from Acapulco, Sofia Kenin earned a victory in the reprise of her defeat from last week's championship match, nearly letting a 3-0 third-set lead slip away before defeating Wang Yafan, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, while Barbora Strycova ended the winning streak of Viktorija Golubic at Indian Wells, 6-2, 7-6(4).
In addition to Bianca Andreescu, three other wildcards were winners on Wednesday in the desert, as Amanda Anisimova, Lauren Davis and Jennifer Brady all advanced in straight sets over Aleksandra Krunic, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova and Nao Hibino, respectively.
