MATCH POINTS

Kristina Mladenovic leads the head-to-head with Belinda Bencic by 3-1. Mladenovic has won their last three meetings, including their only previous clash this year, where the Frenchwoman defeated Bencic in three sets in the second round at Rome.

Bencic, who won the title in Dubai this season, needs to defeat Mladenovic to secure her spot at the Shiseido WTA Finals Shenzhen.

Mladenovic is making her sixth consecutive appearance at Moscow, where she is through to the semifinals for the first time. She is seeking her first WTA singles final of the year.

This will be the first meeting between Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Karolina Muchova.

Pavlyuchenkova won the VTB Kremlin Cup title in 2014, defeating Irina-Camelia Begu in the final. She also reached the final the following year, where she fell to Svetlana Kuznetsova in the tournament’s third-ever all-Russian final.

This is Pavlyuchenkova's second appearance in a WTA semifinal this season: she also made it to the Osaka final, where she lost to Naomi Osaka.

Muchova is making her Moscow debut this week. This season, she has already reached her first Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon, and won her first WTA singles title at Seoul.
