Behind a 13-0 overall record, Andreescu won both tournaments she entered in August: first at the Rogers Cup in Toronto, and then on her US Open main draw debut in Flushing Meadows to capture her first Grand Slam.

Over the course of her undefeated month, Andreescu added several chapters to Canadian tennis history. She became the first Canadian to win the Rogers Cup in 50 years, and the first Canadian woman to win a Slam singles title in the Open Era

She soared to a career-high World No. 5 as a result, tying the previous best mark for a Canadian woman in the history of the WTA rankings.
