World No.4 and defending champion Elina Svitolina is joined by two former semifinalists, Angelique Kerber and Garbiñe Muguruza, and the unseeded Daria Kasatkina.

Kasatkina’s run ensures that for the seventh straight year at least one unseeded player has reached
the last four.

It is the fourth year in a row that four different nationalities are represented in the semifinals. The United States, in 2004 (Serena and Venus Williams), was the last country to provide more than one semifinalist in Dubai.

At 20 years old Kasatkina is the youngest semifinalist here since Victoria Azarenka in 2010.
