Madrid: Bogdan overcomes Bondar in three-hour opener
Ana Bogdan defeated Anna Bondar in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open after trailing 5-2 in the third set and holding her first five match points at 6-5, before converting her sixth in the deciding tiebreak. Bogdan has won two of their three encounters, all of which have gone to three sets.
