Wild card Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva became the first player from Andorra to win a WTA 1000 match after defeating Zhu Lin in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open. The result was the 18-year-old's first tour-level win since reaching the 2022 Seoul quarterfinals, and her first victory over a Top 60 player.
