AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Earlier in the week she talked about "giving it a go" - maybe winning her first WTA tournament since becoming a mom last year seemed far away. But Cara Black ended up achieving that feat this week, capturing the ASB Classic doubles title with Anastasia Rodionova.

The doubles draw in Auckland had a slew of strong teams to watch out for, including huge-hitting No.1 seeds Julia Goerges and Yaroslava Shvedova and No.2 seeds Marina Erakovic and Heather Watson, who won two WTA titles together in 2012. But Black and Rodionova took them both out, Erakovic and Watson in the quarterfinals and Goerges and Shvedova in the final; and they even sandwiched an upset of the No.3 seeds, Liga Dekmeijere and Megan Moulton-Levy, in between those ones in the semifinals.

While Rodionova won her fifth WTA doubles title, Black now has an amazing 55 WTA doubles titles to her name, tying Wendy Turnbull for 13th-most doubles titles in WTA history:

 177 - Martina Navratilova
 112 - Rosie Casals
 106 - Pam Shriver
 101 - Billie Jean King
 80 - Natasha Zvereva
 79 - Lisa Raymond
 76 - Jana Novotna
 69 - Arantxa Sánchez-Vicario
 68 - Gigi Fernández
 68 - Helena Sukova
 66 - Larisa Neiland
 60 - Rennae Stubbs
 55 - Cara Black
 55 - Wendy Turnbull
 53 - Liezel Huber
