Stosur Enlists Maclagan As Coach
Samantha Stosur

SYDNEY, Australia - Having recently split with longtime coach David Taylor, Sam Stosur has announced she has found a new coach - Miles Maclagan - and will begin working with the Brit soon.

"I am really excited about the opportunity of working with Miles," Stosur said of the news. "I've seen him in action on the tour for many years and have always admired his professionalism and hard work.

"He has a lot of experience working with top players and I think we'll work really well together."

The pair will begin working together next month. "Miles will be coming to Sydney in December for a few weeks of pre-season training before our first event together, the Hyundai Hopman Cup," Stosur added.

Maclagan - who was born in Zambia and grew up in Zimbabwe - is a former ATP World Tour player for Great Britain. His coaching credentials are impressive - he has worked with ATP World Tour stars Andy Murray, Marcos Baghdatis and Philipp Kohlschreiber, as well as WTA rising star Laura Robson.

After a somewhat up and down first nine months of the season - she had a phenomenal week in Carlsbad, beating Agnieszka Radwanska and Victoria Azarenka en route to the title, but didn't make it past the quarterfinals at any of her other 19 events - Stosur had an excellent finish to the year, winning Osaka and reaching finals at Moscow and Sofia, a stretch that included 12 wins in 15 matches.

After her title run in Osaka, Stosur talked about her goals for 2014 - could this be a major step?

"For sure I definitely want to try to get back to Top 10," Stosur said. "But to do that you have to win the matches at the Grand Slams for sure, and this year my results in Grand Slams weren't very good.

"Hopefully next year I can turn that around."
