Laura Robson's ongoing recovery from wrist surgery will rule her out for the rest of the summer, including the US Open.

Two years ago, Robson announced herself to the tennis world with wins over Kim Clijsters and Li Na during a run to the fourth round at the US Open, but the wrist injury, which initially flared up last December, has restricted her to just two matches this season.

"I went through a very, very depressed stage," Robson told BBC Sport. "I didn't go on any tennis websites because I was so jealous of everyone able to play.

"At the moment it's kind of a day-to-day thing in terms of pain and how the inflammation is going, but rehab seems to be coming along nicely."

Robson will be part of the BBC's commentary team at Wimbledon, a role she discussed, along with her injury ordeal, in an interview with British newspaper The Independent.
