Social buzz: Billie Jean King meets Mo Farah

It’s awards season in sport, so it is only natural that the diaries of tennis’ biggest stars are packed.
Billie Jean King, who won 12 major titles and was a pioneer for the rights of female tennis players, is no exception and was honored by the BBC on Sunday as she picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award.

At the ceremony, meanwhile, she enjoyed hanging out with the England netball team, which won the Team of the Year prize, as well as multiple Olympic champion athlete Sir Mo Farah, with whom she presented the Sports Personality of the Year prize to cyclist Geraint Thomas.

WTA World No.19 Caroline Garcia also enjoyed a glitzy weekend as she formed part of the judging panel for Miss France, which was won by Vaimalama Chaves, Miss Tahiti.
“Congratulations to the new Miss France, Vaimalama Chaves,” she said. “Well done to all the competitors and to Miss France for this great spectacle.
“Honored to have been part of the jury with these incredible women, presided over by a legend Line Renaud.”

Staying in France, both Kristina Mladenovic and Alizé Cornet offered their congratulations to the country’s female handball team, which became European champions for the first time on Sunday thanks to a 24-21 victory over Russia in Paris.
“Proud of you,” said Mladenovic.
Cornet, meanwhile, commented: “You have made us dream girls! Long live women’s sport and vive la France!”
